From Albuquerque we moved on to Durango Colorado for 2 nights. In the full day that we had there we took the narrow gauge steam railway to Silverton

and affords spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains.

|
|
 |
Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, 1st and 2nd of October 2016
The Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta is the largest hot air balloon event in the world with over 550 balloons taking part in 2016.
We attended the balloon glow on the Saturday evening of the day that we arrived in Albuquerque and then the Dawn Patrol and Mass Ascension on the Sunday morning
which meant leaving our B&B at 4:30am. For the event we purchased tickets for the Gondola Club which provided meals, drinks and somewhere to sit.
The seating was especially welcome since the balloon launch area covers 47 acres with very little seating for the tens of thousands of people attending.

Duxford Air Show, 10th of September 2016
These photos were taken on the 10th of September 2016 at the air show held at the Imperial War Museum site at Duxford in Cambridgeshire.
It was a very wet day which meant that the flying displays were severely curtailed hence the fewer than usual number of photos of the planes in action.

 |
Silverstone
Classic, 27th of July 2013
These photos were taken on the 27th of July 2013 on the
middle day of the three day classic race meeting held at
Silverstone. The Lotus Seven Club had a display
area for members cars although Robin only decided to
attend a few days before the meeting and therefore
missed out on being able to park his Caterham in the
club area. In fact he went in his MX-5 and was
grateful for that as at the end of the day there was a
torrential downpour which would have made traveling home
in the Caterham a miserable experience. |

on the Alps, July 2009
This was a two week tour starting from Dover and
transiting through
France for four nights before visiting Italy for a
further four nights
and then returning to the UK via another four nights in

superb, and the
roads as good as you might hope for in the Alps.

also her brother and his girlfriend to Cyprus where we

|
JJ The Revival, May 2009
The first Se7ens list tour was organised around Ireland
(North and
South) by JJ (Johnty Lyons) in 1999 and so for the tenth
anniversary of
that original tour it was decided that a tour should be
held again in
commemoration. The tour itself was based entirely
in Northern
Ireland on this occasion with all three nights being
spent at the
Hilton Hotel in Templepatrick. Once again the weather
was mixed to say
the least, but the variety of fun roads and lovely
scenery once again
made up for the occasional dampness.

Farnborough Airshow,
21st of July 2008
These photos were taken on Sunday the 21st of July 2008
at the Farnborough International Airshow in Hampshire.
In contrast to the photos from 2006 these were taken
from inside the airfield as a paying spectator,
something that Robin had done on about ten previous
occasions stretching back to his first visit in 1974. |
|

|
Greece, May 2008
Paros in Greece was the destination for our honeymoon in
May 2008. We had a wonderfully relaxing ten days
on this lovely island, which remains relatively unspoilt
in comparison with the most common tourist destinations
in Greece.
|

|
US
& Canada, September and October 2007
At the end of September 2007 we flew to Boston for a two
week holiday visiting New England and Canada. The
reasons for visiting New England were that we had not
been there before and we wanted to see the renowned fall
colours and the reasons for visiting Canada were twofold
- to visit Robin's aunt and cousins in Renfrew Ontario
and also to see where Claire's parents had lived for
three years in Montreal in the 1950s.
|

|
Norway,
July 2007
The Norway tour had been a long time in the planning
with the idea
originally being considered several years earlier. The
main
organisation was by Andrew "Vinnie" Barriskell, ably
assisted by a
variety of others including several Norwegian Se7en
owners. For the UK
contingent the departure point was Newcastle, on a ferry
that called in
at Stavanger (and somewhere else that I have forgotten)
before we
finally disembarked at Bergen. From there we enjoyed a
weeks touring
with the most northerly overnight at Geiranger and we
encountered
weather ranging from beautiful sunshine to torrential
rain - apparently
this is all part of the standard Norwegian experience.
The
scenery was stunning and the roads very entertaining, if
occasionally
rather too crowded with towing caravans.
A wonderful
place for Se7ens to visit, hopefully a return trip will
be made one day
although the ferry service that we used from the UK no
longer runs so
it might be a touch more difficult to get there another
time.
|

|
Norwegian
Cruise, June 2007
In June 2007 we went on a week long cruise accompanying
Claire's father and brother to the Norwegian fjords
aboard the P&O ship Oceana. The cruise
departed from Southampton and called at Stavanger, Flåm,
Olden and Bergen.
|

September 2006
In September 2006 we travelled to Cyprus for a week long
holiday where we stayed with friends in Anogyra.
|

|
Le
Blat de Bretagne, September 2006
This was a long weekend tour to Brittany in France in
the middle of
September 2006. The tour was organised by Ian
Helmschrott-Bowden
and Gavin Tarrant and was based on staying at a
different hotel each
night. The weather was variable over the weekend
but there was
plenty of nice sunny conditions to compensate for the
bad ones. As
usual the rural French roads were a delight to drive and
the food also
lived up to our expectations of quality.
|
 |
Farnborough Airshow,
July 2006
These photos were taken from the back garden of where we
were then living and show aircraft from the Farnborough
International Airshow in July 2006. The house was about
one mile from the airfield but on the opposite side of the
airfield from the main display area so the photo
opportunities were generally either from large aircraft
that needed a lot of space to manoeuvre or otherwise
from aircraft coming into land. |
|

|
Switzerland, June
2006
In
June
2006 we flew to Zurich and stayed for nine nights split
between the Hotel Giessbach above Lake Brienz and
the Hotel Victoria Ritter in Kandersteg. We
enjoyed taking the boat service around Lake Brienz,
but most of all we enjoyed our trips up into the
mountains, especially the four cable car rides from
Stechelberg up to the Piz Gloria at the summit of
the Schilthorn.
|

|
Leeks,
Pies and Puddings, May 2006
This tour was organised by Martin and Vivian
Richards and was based in
Chester and took place over a weekend in May
2006. Unfortunately
the weather was generally poor for the weekend,
which did not prevent
us from enjoying ourselves but it certainly limited
my enthusiasm for
taking photographs.

How
the West was Driven, September and October 2005
This tour was, unsurprisingly, one that was long in
the making. The original idea had been conceived a
number of years before but had never really got off
the ground until Steve Blair came to hear of it on
the Lynch the Leprechaun tour in Ireland in 2003 and
being a true Texan he decided that it must be doable
and so he (and his good lady wife) set about it.
Clearly they needed assistance along the way from a
large number of other volunteers and so the tour
became a reality. The starting point was Houston
Texas and the end point was about 3300 miles away
(by the recommended tour routes) in San Francisco
California. Along the way we would see deserts,
mountains, gorges, canyons, rivers and many meals of
dauntingly large size. What we also found was also
(almost total) support from the American people that
we met and of course especially those US Se7eners
who joined in with their cars or provided support
vehicles along the way - a huge thanks to them all

These photos have all been taken within the garden of our home - The Jays.
The birds were especially appreciative that we kept the food supplies well stocked during the winter snow although the Pied Wagtail seemed to believe that all the food belonged to him. |
